LAist called this weekend's CicLAvia event "7.5 miles of 100,000 smiles."
The city of Los Angeles made its first official foray into bike friendly territory this weekend. More than 100,000 people biked downtown in the "CicLAvia" event, which closed off streets to motor vehicles. LAist called it "7.5 miles of 100,000 smiles." The LA Times also interviewed happy cyclists, who noted that a commute from Hollywood to Downtown in a car is much less enjoyable. "Being able to ride freely and safely right [sic] through what you knew were usually really dangerous intersections, it got you thinking about what it could be like if the city created a network of dedicated bike routes.
