Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger last week signed a bill (AB 1507, Lieu) that should help the state better coordinate funding programs for clean transportation. AB 1507 is intended to increase state funding support for advanced transportation projects that achieve both criteria and greenhouse gas emissions reductions. CALSTART was the sponsor and primary supporter of the bill, which allows eligible projects to take advantage of both Carl Moyer criteria emission funding and AB 118 greenhouse gas funding. John Boesel, CALSTART President and CEO said, "With the passage of AB 1507, we should see more advanced vehicle projects that both improve air quality and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This is an issue we have been working on for the past several years, and we will continue to push for change in this area in order to help move California toward a cleaner transportation future. We commend the Governor for signing the bill and Assemblymember Lieu for introducing and carrying it." [MORE] Read the bill.
