HTUF 2011: Real Momentum
HTUF 2011 was a virtual kaleidoscope of what’s happening in the hybrid, electric and high efficiency truck arena. Each day held a multitude of venues from which to see the entire gamut of this industry from different perspectives – in different lights and from different angles.

Day 1
The FACTs Revealed: Perspective matters as everyone over the age of five knows and the fleet perspective is reality. Day 1 brought to the industry the perspective of the fleet professionals.
Day 2
The World View: President Obama’s National Export initiative’s goal is to double exports to China by the end of 2014. One effort through which this goal is to be met was revealed in the Advanced Truck Market Opportunities in China Workshop.
Working Group View: Refuse, Utility, Telecom, Class 8 and Commercial Construction Equipment groups met to focus on what hybrid, electric and high efficiency vehicles, equipment and services bring to each of their industries.
E-Truck Focus: E-Trucks were in the spotlight too.
Awarding Excellence: The spotlight shown on Coca-Cola Refreshments for having the largest heavy-duty hybrid electric fleet in North America. Steve Saltzgiver accepted the award on the company’s behalf. Paul Skalny (shown left), Director of the Army’s TARDEC-National Automotive Center, received the second Blue Sky Award for his long leadership in driving change in advanced military and commercial vehicles.
First Glimpse of the Exhibit Hall: Simply wow. The largest display (50,000 square feet) of the latest in all things hybrid, electric and high efficiency for trucks.
Governor Affirms Commitment and Announces Funding: Governor O’Malley brought cheers as he announced new funding available to Maryland’s trucking fleets.
Industry Vision and Market Assessment: The afternoon brought insight into where this industry is now and how leaders view the future.
Day 3
A Look into the Military: Sharon Burke and others brought clarity to the military’s involvement.
OEMs’ Perspective: Revealing, thought-provoking, encouraging, and exciting.
Day 4
Convoy and Ride and Drive: Reality. 30+ clean medium and heavy-duty vehicles available to drive or to simply stare at with open mouth and get the chills. Fantastic.
