It Takes an Army…

…and end users, manufacturers, suppliers, policymakers, and stakeholders to build the world’s largest learning marketplace devoted to the production and use of medium- and heavy-duty electric, hybrid, and high efficiency trucks and buses.  Founded by CALSTART and the U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center’s National Automotive Center, HTUF Conference & Expo 2011 will take place October 10-13, 2011 at the Baltimore Convention Center.

The 11th year of HTUF marks a new momentum as the first-ever fuel economy regulations for heavy-duty pickups, vans, trucks and buses have been announced.  That, combined with new vehicle product announcements and the changing funding scene on Capitol Hill will infuse HTUF 2011 with a timeliness for fleets trying to discern the path forward that best meets their needs.  Registration is on track to reach an all time high and attendees get to experience the rapidly evolving landscape in program sessions, the largest Exhibit Hall HTUF has ever had, and driving the biggest number of medium-and heavy-duty vehicles assembled in one place.

As HTUF has evolved, it means advanced trucks, and this year’s attendees will have a fresh range of ways to see the industry.

•    HTUF means seeing and driving electric trucks (e-trucks) and understanding their emerging uses and the actions that need the attention of industry through our first ever E-Truck Task Force Workshop.
•    The time is ripe for innovative partnerships and look for a Conference announcement about exciting new ways CALSTART will help U.S. manufacturers meet the prime potential partners for advanced trucks and buses in the Chinese market.
•    Fleets talk to fleets about money.  Will right sizing engines bring costs down?  How fuel efficient do these vehicles need to be for a real ROI?  Will fleets purchase additional hybrid and electric vehicles without demonstrated life, standardization and cost reduction of batteries?  Answers to these questions and more are part of an Oct 10 “Fleet Only” meeting.

From keynote speaker Sharon Burke, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Operational Energy Plans and Programs, to a who’s who of auto manufacturers with new product announcements, HTUF 2011 builds on the momentum of this vibrant market.  Our sponsors, BAE Systems, Southern Company, Eaton, Hino Trucks, Freightliner, Telogis, Rexroth, Siemens, Dow Kokam, Altec, Smith Electric Vehicles, Baltimore Gas & Electric, and Coca-Cola Refreshments join us in welcoming you to the premier forum on advanced, high-efficiency trucks.
