Congressional Briefing Reviews Status of Emerging Rules, Jobs for Efficient Trucks

Experts from EPA, NHTSA, industry and environment discuss President’s new truck efficiency standards, how efficient trucks create jobs, and the new tools needed to support their development and use

Washington, DC – Congressional leaders and staff will hear Thursday a status report and discussion of the emerging new fuel efficiency standards for medium and heavy-duty trucks, the expected job, fuel reduction and environmental benefits they can create, and the new tools that can help U.S. industry successfully lead the world in the technologies needed.

Experts from the administration will outline the framework of President Obama’s recently announced plans to implement first-ever fuel efficiency standards for trucks. Experts from the truck industry, CALSTART and the Union of Concerned Scientists will brief Congress on a new jobs study linked to efficient trucks and the tools and technologies needed to successfully meet these new challenges.
