Director, Hybrid, Electric and Advanced Truck Users Forum (HTUF)

CALSTART is seeking a dynamic and highly experienced leader to be the Director of the Hybrid, Electric and Advanced Truck Users Forum (HTUF) program. The Director would need to have the vision, skills and energy to help us transform the market and technology for advanced medium and heavy-duty vehicles. Leading a team, the Director will oversee and be accountable for all aspects of CALSTART’s hybrid, electric and advanced vehicle deployment projects working in conjunction with fleets, suppliers, and vehicle manufacturers. The Director should ideally have strong standing in the medium- and heavy-duty industry; good knowledge of fleet needs and barriers; understand technology commercialization strategies and bring a strategic vision to the many facets of technology and market transformation. The candidate will be responsible for the portfolio of CALSTART HTUF projects, including fleet working groups, fleet deployment and pooled purchase efforts, outreach and support activities, annual conference and agenda, data acquisition and evaluation efforts; and vehicle drive cycle information. In this leadership role, the candidate will also lead major proposal efforts for new funding; and provide briefings and presentations to key stakeholders and technical conferences.
Responsibilities:
Plan, develop and implement the overall strategic direction of the Hybrid, Electric and Advanced Truck Users Forum (HTUF), including meeting its commercialization goals through fleet deployment, technology development and assessment and working group strategies:
- Work with project team to develop new and expand existing HTUF implementation strategies, including working groups;
- Coordinate and lead major interactions with fleet representatives;
- Interact with vehicle manufacturers and systems suppliers to understand the status of their development activities;
- Develop and manage HTUF Program Budget;
- Oversee all technical and market research and support activities:
- Strategic vision and overall theme and agenda of HTUF National Meetings:
- Ensure national meetings drive success of HTUF activities.
- Represent CALSTART and HTUF at conferences and stakeholder meetings;
- Lead funding development and proposal efforts related to HTUF activities.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Deep knowledge of the medium and heavy-duty advanced transportation technologies industry and vehicle markets is a significant advantage. While an engineering, business or science degree is not required it is desired, as are advanced degrees and strong business and people skills. Proven track record of managing diverse groups and interests toward successful action and results.
Compensation and Benefits:
CALSTART is offering a highly competitive compensation package based on experience and qualifications, including salary and a comprehensive benefits package including health, vision, dental, retirement and an industry-leading incentive program. Preferences for location are the organization’s California or Colorado offices, but other locations that support HTUF national needs, will be entertained.
