New Tech and Funding for Airport Fleets

New technologies to combat climate change and improve air quality are available now, some with incentives that can cut capital costs by up to 100 percent and fuel costs by as much as 75 percent. Vehicles and equipment--airside ground support equipment, passenger services, cargo and freight operations, and delivery vehicles--all contribute to greenhouse gas and air pollutant emissions of global, local and regional concern.
Alternative fuels, low-emission vehicles, and emission control devices can help meet stricter clean air regulations. In January 2010, CALSTART co-hosted the Green Airport Fleet Workshop and Expo. The gathering of more than 125 attendees and experts saw lively discussion about sources of funding, operational pitfalls, and regulatory mandates. The Expo offered hands-on access to the most fuel-efficient technologies in the world today.
