• Biogas Conference Approaching, Boyd Keynotes

Check out the brochure for the Biogas USA West conference, where Clean Transportation Solutions Group's Director, Mike Ippoliti, will be presenting in the RNG for Transportation special seminar day (Thursday 10/13).

This really is the premier event for RNG in the western US, and we encourage everyone with an interest in RNG to attend! (If you aren’t at CALSTART’s HTUF conference, that is!).

CEC Commissioner Jim Boyd, will be the keynote at the Transportation Seminar on Thursday.  Jim has been a tireless supporter of RNG, since he joined CALSTART on a couple trips to Sweden some years ago, learning how that country was leading the world in the production and use of RNG for transportation.

  • RNG For Transportation: A New Conversation

Welcome to the new blog: Renewable Natural Gas for Transportation (or we can agree to call it RNG, it's easier!)

While truck and car makers, politicians and consumers continue to scramble to find alternatives of fossil fuels, we've been doing some homework, researching the potential transportation applications for RNG, clean, renewable natural gas from waste, otherwise known as biomethane. Did you know that cow manure holds great potential as a fuel source?

With this blog, we hope to explore news related to new technologies, technical and policy barriers to entry for this fledgling market, and more.

"RNG is the lowest carbon fuel for transportation; it's abundant; and it's renewable," said John Boesel, President and CEO of CALSTART in 2010.

John Fiscalini describes how cow manure is digested into biogas and then upgraded to biomethane for electricity generation at his Modesto, CA dairy. CALSTART participated in a biomethane tour on 4/28/10 as part of its project to demonstrate the use of biomethane in transportation.
